The Yesterday Cafe offers a taste of traditional Southern and American home-style cooking right in the heart of Greensboro, GA. The atmosphere is calm and inviting, with a decor that leans toward classic comfort rather than trendy—perfect for both relaxed lunches and intimate dinners. The dining area maintains a quiet, friendly vibe that suits families catching up over a midday meal or couples enjoying a slower-paced evening out.

People who visit The Yesterday Cafe typically come for hearty, familiar dishes that honor Southern culinary roots. The menu features well-executed staples like country fried steak smothered in gravy, meatloaf, and fried chicken with Oakes potatoes, alongside standout sides such as sweet potato fries and Brussels sprouts. Their buttermilk pie draws particular appreciation for its light, flaky crust and creamy filling, clearly a point of pride for the kitchen. For seafood lovers, options like fried shrimp and crab cakes hold their own without overshadowing the core comfort-food offerings.

Service here is consistently noted for being warm and attentive, though moments of slower follow-up during busy times can happen. The staff’s friendliness emphasizes a neighborhood feel—like being served by someone who’s likely from just down the street rather than a corporate chain.

The Yesterday Cafe tends to attract those looking for a slower, less commercial dining experience where the food is straightforward and satisfying. Lunch visits often include groups sharing open-faced sandwiches or club sandwiches with fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese, while dinner shifts focus to more substantial entrées like Ollie’s Chicken or baby back ribs, available on select evenings Thursday through Saturday.

If you’re seeking a place where Southern cooking is made with familiarity rather than flash, with an unhurried atmosphere to match, The Yesterday Cafe fits the bill. Visiting midday or early evening on a weeknight means quieter surroundings and a more personal touch, making it a local staple for casual meals that feel like a step back to simpler Southern dining traditions.

Back again, review after this is from a year ago Another great lunch with family. We had a knife and fork open face beef sandwich, tuna melt and a BLC sandwich....all great. Service was spectacular and friendly and the play list for background music is right up my ally. Always a great experiance. From 11/2018. Second time we have been here. This time with out of town friends. We wanted to give them the local feeling. Overall service and atmosphere were great for our lunch. Great ice tea and deserts(buttermilk pie and chocolate walnut pie)..although a little expensive. Fish Po-boy, Chicken melt and Tuna melt were outstanding, Caribbean chicken not so much. Fun place to share the real home town feeling of Greensboro.

The all raved about Buttermilk pie was great! It definitely is for someone with a sweet tooth though. But whoever makes these pies has it down to a science. They are light, creamy, and the crust is very flaky. This pie that is not always easy to nail, and they nail it! The other food looks great and smells good as it passes. And everyone looked glad to be there. This beloved place will be a "must stop by" in this small town!

The server and hostess were nice, I enjoyed the hamburger steak and squash casserole. The corn bread was nice, but to me just average. I liked the buttermilk pie. I only gave a four because after the food was dropped off it was hard to get the waitress back. We needed some butter, a different waitress got us some.

This was a very quiet restaurant with beautiful décor. The food was excellent—especially the Brussels sprouts and buttermilk pie. Our waitress was great. She was very efficient and personable. The price was reasonable for a hearty Southern meal.

We discovered that the Yesterday Cafe is now open for dinners on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Tonight, the Shrimp and Grits were incredible...great seasoning...loads of flavor, and perfectly cooked. Best I have had. My wife had crab cakes which were exceptional. We wrapped up with the world famous Buttermilk pie and it didn't disappoint. Great staff, great food, and great company made for a perfect end to the week.

Great food and lunch specials. I had the roast beef that was so tender and amazing. Servers do a great job and the atmosphere in the small town of Greensboro is just great. Definitely recommend stopping in and don't forget to order dessert.

Stopped here on our way to Savannah today. Atmosphere was awesome! Service and food was even better! You’ll spend $10-$15 on average per person, and the food is so worth it! Will definitely go here again if driving by. Also, the buttermilk pie was amazing!!
